WP3 – Development of Guidelines and Course Materials
Design and production of the modular course content and the teaching guide, integrating innovative methodologies and adaptive learning elements.
The specific objectives of this work package focus on the development of high-quality educational materials and a teaching guide that will serve as the foundation for the general competences course designed for inmates. This phase ensures that the course is structured and accessible, making it easier for prison educators to implement while also addressing the unique challenges of teaching in prison settings. By refining content through feedback and consultations, this work package contributes directly to the overall project goal of equipping inmates with essential skills for reintegration into society.
One of the key objectives is to develop educational materials that are clear, practical, and adaptable to different prison environments. This includes refining course content based on previous research and expert consultations, incorporating adjustments iteratively to ensure that the materials effectively address the learning needs of inmates.
Another objective is the creation of a teaching guide that supports educators in delivering the course effectively. This guide will include instructions and practical strategies for engaging inmates in the learning process. By equipping educators with well-prepared resources, this work package enhances their ability to deliver high-quality instructions, making the learning process smoother and more impactful for the target group.
In addition to content development, the work package also focuses on graphic and technical coordination to ensure that the materials are presented in a user-friendly and appealing format. At the same time, attention will be given to the technical limitations within penal facilities, ensuring that the materials are compatible with the available infrastructure and delivery methods.
The main results of this work package will be the creation of well-structured, accessible, and effective educational materials and teaching resources that support the implementation of the general competences course for inmates. These materials will ensure that both inmates and educators have the necessary tools to engage in meaningful learning experiences that contribute to skill development and reintegration into society.
One of the key outcomes will be a complete set of educational materials covering core areas such as literacy, numeracy, natural sciences, basic English and usage of AI tools in prison settings. These materials will be refined based on feedback from expert consultations and pilot testing, ensuring that they are tailored to the specific needs of the target group.
This work package will produce learning resources. Efforts will be made to incorporate engaging formats such as simple visual aids to support comprehension and motivation among learners. The design will take into account the technical limitations of prison facilities, ensuring that all materials can be effectively used within restricted educational environments.
By delivering these key results, this work package will lay the foundation for the successful implementation of the general competences course, providing both educators and inmates with high-quality learning tools that enhance education in correctional settings.
The activities within WP3 focus on designing and developing a structured competences course tailored for inmates, ensuring that it is pedagogically sound, practical and adaptable to different prison education settings. The process begins with defining the overall structure of the course, determining the core thematic areas, and establishing a modular framework that allows for flexibility in implementation. The curriculum design will ensure that the course covers fundamental skills in literacy, numeracy, natural sciences, and basic English.
The next step involves the development of educational materials, including lesson plans, worksheets, and resources tailored to the needs of prison learners. These materials will be designed to support both instructor-led and self-directed learning, making the course accessible in diverse prison environments. Another key component of the activities is the creation and/or gathering resources to complement traditional teaching materials. Open source videos, interactive exercises (if possible) will be developed to reinforce learning and provide inmates with engaging educational experiences that go beyond conventional classroom instruction. These resources will be thought of to function within the technological constraints of prison settings, ensuring accessibility even in low-resource environments.
The final stage of WP3 focuses on developing guidelines for educators, providing them with methodological support on how to effectively deliver the course. These guidelines will include recommendations on teaching strategies, adaptation techniques for different learner needs, and best practices for using digital tools and interactive resources in prison education.
